Eden Hazard excited to play alongside Gonzalo Higuain at Chelsea

Belgium international Eden Hazard is looking forward to playing with Gonzalo Higuain at Chelsea. The Blues have endured a mixed Premier League campaign where they have struggled to find a regular goalscorer upfront but there could experience a change in fortunes with Higuain making the loan switch from Juventus.

In a report covered by Evening Standard, Hazard said that the club are missing a striker of Diego Costa’s calibre and this has hampered them over the past 18 months. The Belgian added that he likes to play with top players and is looking forward to working alongside Higuain, who has been a genuine goalscorer throughout his professional career.

He said:“I like to play with top, top players. At Chelsea, I was able to play with one of the best in Costa for three years. I think Higuain is one of the best at the moment. He has scored a lot of goals. When you see his career he has done it everywhere, Real Madrid, Napoli and Juventus. I think he can do the same here. This season we have been playing good but we missed the guy to score just one goal. We have had a few games where we have played well and in the end, we finished with zero goals, even though we created chances.”

“Chelsea are currently three points ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester United in the pursuit of the final Champions League spot“ and they will be hoping that the arrival of Higuain can better their creativity in the final third. Very often this term, the Blues have been dependent on Hazard “to save their blushes“ but Higuain could ease the burden.

The Argentine has formerly featured under Maurizio Sarri during their time together at Napoli and should be familiar with the manager’s style of play. Higuain could make his Blues debut on Sunday evening where they are scheduled to face Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup fourth round.
