Schalke Forward Franco di Santo speaks about Werder Bremen Return

Franco di Santo recently made the switch to Schalke from Werder Bremen.

The Argentine came to European football with Chelsea, but he is best known for his time with Werder Bremen. He spent two years with the club and made just under 50 appearances in the league. After having not been regarded as a prolific goal scorer up until that point, di Santo came up with19 goals in his 48 appearances for the club. A bulk of his goals and appearances came in the Bundesliga. His struggles in front of goal have once again returned to Schalke in the 2015-16 season.

Di Santo has been able to score only two goals in his 31 league games with Schalke. As a result, the club have also struggled during this period.Di Santo has never been regarded as a player to score the goals, as he is more of a chance creator. The forward returns back to Werder Bremen for a match this weekend.

Prior to the game,di Santo spoke about his love for Werder Bremen and the possibility of returning to the club one day. Since Werder Bremen are his first club in Germany, he says that he has a strong affinity. Even the fans may not understand his reasons for joining Schalke, he expects them to give him a good reception this weekend.

“It's strange to be honest. I love Bremen, it was my first club in Germany. They gave me the chance to play in the Bundesliga. I had a very good second year. It was a pity at that time, of course, that I had gone. But I have justified this decision several times in detail. Many followers have no understanding for it, and I do not like it particularly. As a fan I might react in a similar way. I think part of the fans will always whistle. But there is another part that says, 'Everything okay.' For me it is important that they know that I will always have Bremen in their hearts,” said Di Santo.
